ARTIST STATEMENT
My artwork is intuitive, expressionistic, and completely improvised. When I create art I plunge into the vast unknown, working with no plans or expectations. I work with a vigor that approaches a type of mania, frantic, yet controlled. The implementation of random carvings and surface treatment further emphasizes the abstract expressionistic aesthetic I desire. I believe that art and the creative process is synthesized by subconscious thought and desires. For me, it is a visceral and meditative process. Although I work from within, I do reference the works of Peter Voulkos, Robert Brady, Clayton Bailey, and Glenn Takai.
